by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

Your Birthday is the most unique and special day of all.

Before you were born, no one ever celebrated “Your Birthday.”

Once you die, it is doubtful, anyone will celebrate, observe, commemorate, or even honor “Your Birthday.”

Once you have died, family, friends and relatives,in time, will forget “Your Birthday.”

I, Samuel E. Warren Jr., am the Self-Appointed and Self-Anointed “Your Birthday Prophet” Of Planet Earth. My calling is to remind you to never “blow off” or “ignore” Your Birthday

The Citizens Of The World love holidays. Holidays are a legitimate excuse to party.

Saturnalia

Christmas is One Of The World’s Oldest Holidays.

It is a Lie to say Christmas celebrates The Birth Of Jesus Christ; it does not. Christmas is an ancient winter celebration.

The Christmas holiday originally honored The First God Of Rome Saturn, who ruled generation, plenty, wealth, agriculture, endings, new beginnings and liberation.

The Roman Saturnalia Feast ran from December 17 through December 23.

Early Christians simply “stole” the holiday and “hijacked” it to December 25.

Christmas has always been celebrated and will probably always be celebrated because winter is a cold, dank, dark, dismal, depressing time at the end of the year.

People from antiquity to the present need to reassure themselves winter will end and a new year will begin with promise and warmth.

Christmas, the winter holiday, serves the logical purpose based on centuries of tradition and historical survival of the human race.

Christmas is simply The Global Holiday That Confirms Human Life Will Survive Winter’s Death Of Cold And Ice To Feel The Warmth Of Spring And The Continuance Of Life.

Civil Rights’ Leader’s Birthday

The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr’s Birthday became a legal Federal United States holiday to celebrate the birthday of the American Civil Rights Leader and Baptist preacher.

I was a boy, when the reverend was going around the United States making his speeches and preaching sermons that made people nervous and uncomfortable.

April 4, 1968 – Opal M. DeLong Warren, my mother, had got in the old white 1962 Chevrolet stepside pickup to go up the road and visit Grandma DeLong and Uncle Richard. I had decided to stay home and do homework in front of the TV.

April 4, 1968 – A few minutes after Momma left the familiar CBS News black and white eye logo filled the TV screen and I looked at the words, “Special Bulletin.” I do not recall, the actual words, but the report stated that the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., had been shot.

America as a nation seemed to fight The US Civil Rights Movement “tooth and nail” every step of the way. Even as a young boy, I knew if the Reverend King died from an assassin’s bullet. “All Hell Would Break Loose.” I was right.

Five days of race riots broke out in Washington D.C. The evening news reported riots in other American cities like Chicago and Baltimore for several days after King’s assassination.

King, a Baptist preacher, had made some powerful enemies. He was assassinated. Riots destroyed American businesses, homes and people died in the social change process that would move America beyond the policy of segregation

The irony is in 2013, people get the legal holiday of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday “off from work” and few, if any, stop to consider the meaning of the legalized birthday holiday.

General Washington’s Birthday

When I was a little boy General George Washington’s Birthday on February 22 was a legal Federal United States holiday.

When I was a little boy Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday on February 12 was a legal Federal holiday.

Americans got two legal Federal “days off from work with pay” in the short month of February.

The Lame

President’s Day

Birthdays

American leaders in the 1970s decided it would be better to “prostitute all the presidents’ birthdays together” and celebrate one holiday for all of them called “President’s Day.”

Thus, Americans could honor a creative, revolutionary Renaissance Man like General George Washington, but the day got diluted with the inclusion of Loser Lincoln the political patsy and pawn of The American Civil War.

Even President Herbert Hoover, the portly president could be honored on “President’s Day.” Hoover’s presidential incompetence during The Great Depression may always be debated by historians.

Portly, Porky President Herbert Hoover is on the public record, of giving “The Order” to the use of United States Armed Forces against World War I military veterans.

Republican Herbert Hoover gave “The Order” to use “military force against his own citizens,” which kicks him to the historical curb next to Dictators Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler, Emperor Hirohito, Saddam Hussein.

Why would any American want to celebrate “President’s Day” when one of the historical honorees is a incompetent politician who “authorized” the use of military force to “put down” or “kill off citizens’ who made the leader uncomfortable?

I always took “the work day off”, but Republican Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan are the only Republican presidents that I respect and acknowledge their birthdays.

Most of America’s Republican presidents I view as “Crooks”.

I cuss and curse American Republican Presidents, but I will never “celebrate, observe or honor the dismal days they took their first breath of air.”

The bad thing about America’s “Presidents’ Day” is it lumps American Democrat Presidents’ birthdays together with the birthdays of the Republican “Crooks”.

Thus, Your Birthday in the future could easily get dumped into a national observance of some of “the biggest crooks that ever lived” if you ever get elected to The White House.

There are 365 days in a year. The number of days in a leap year is 366. As time goes by and more people get elected to the Office Of President Of The United States Of America, each person will have their own birthday.

Already more than 40 people have served as president of the United States and the number approaches 50; which means at some point if every presidential birthday was a “legal holiday”, then, the time would come when people could legally take off 365 to 366 days and the result is no one would work for a year.

American Presidents are controversial in their Administrations and often the place they earn in history.

I believe Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday should always be celebrated as “National Fool’s Day”, instead of “April Fools Day” on April 1.

Lincoln, the dumb old country boy became America’s Political Patsy and the ultimate “Sacrificial Scape Goat.”

Lincoln was more a political puppet of his political party and the business people, who made fortunes in the American Civil War.

I believe President Herbert Hoover’s Birthday should always celebrate National Toilet Tissue Month.

As chief executive of the United States, Herbert Hoover was “full of it.” The American economy collapsed and sucked other nations into the global economic sinkhole.

Naturally in retirement, Hoover and supporters claimed he had all these great ideas to “Stop” or “Slow” The Great Depression.

However, On the job, in The Oval Office, Hoover, the self-made millionaire sat on his portly rump and watched his nation “Go Broke.”

Hoover’s Administration, like toilet tissue served a purpose. Once used – toilet tissue becomes “waste.” The Hoover Administration was “waste”; it allowed citizens to suffer, lose their livelihoods, homes and businesses, while an incompetent politician sat on his rump, rather than take aggressive action and do what was needed to stop or slow The Great Depression.

Hoover had no problem giving “The Order” to use the military force of The United States Armed Forces against World War I veterans exercising Freedom Of Speech and Freedom Of Assembly; thus, he would not of lost sleep violating The Constitution Of The United States Of America to save the economy. The fact that he did not take aggressive action suggests Hoover was either a fool or had no ideas.

Since an American President can be such a controversial celebrity in their lifetime; Congress rather than trying to choose the birthdays of Great American Presidents to be celebrated simply decided to dump the trash in with the gold and create “President’s Day” – a really lame Federal holiday.

If you are a politician, then, people in your lifetime and after your death, may choose not to celebrate Your Birthday.

Your Birthday might even become a paid Federal holiday that people “take off” and never even consider, who you were or what you did.

In the present, You should always celebrate Your Birthday because everyone only gets so many birthdays, which serve as the recognized anniversary of your birth.

You can celebrate your birthday with a single candle on a cupcake.

You might be able to arrange a monumental news making celebration that has television networks on scene and people streaming the celebration to facebook, twitter, You Tube and writing about Your Birthday festivities in their blogs.

Regardless, of how you decide to celebrate or observe Your Birthday – you should always celebrate Your Birthday.

Once you die people may forget Your Birthday, worse yet they may prostitute it by combining it with a legendary collection of global fools, freaks and clowns, who should be “forgotten” and not honored.

The Most Special Holiday Of Your Life

In your lifetime, Your Birthday should be The Most Special Holiday Of Your Life because it represents the anniversary of your birth and recognizes that each passing year is bringing progressive change into your Life.

Whenever possible, legally take Your Birthday “off from work” to observe your special day.

No one really wants to work on their birthday. The day you were born, you were moving your arms, hands, legs, feet and trying to experience the new sensation of Life; you were not worried about your contribution to The Global Workforce Of Humanity.

Wherever you are in the world, you should always celebrate Your Birthday.

Different nations and cultures have different ways to celebrate Your Birthday. Whenever feasible celebrate Your Birthday your way because it is your day.

Why was I born on this particular day ?

A person’s birthday is always the most underrated day of their Life because no one really stops to consider: “Why was I born on this particular day ?”

There are 365 to 366 days in a year. Obviously, the intimate relationship between your mother and father led to your creation, but that is not Your Birthday because sometimes an infant is born early.

Sometimes an infant is born late.

Sometimes medical professionals from midwives to surgeons are required to bring you into The Real World to begin Your Birthday.

No birth is ever an “accident.”

The situations surrounding your birth might be unique, out of the ordinary, unusual or appear to be “unexpected” (which is a kind of silly word to use for a pregnancy, since a pregnant woman is almost always noticeably “with child”,i.e.. pregnant.).

The day of your birth is NOT coincidental, happenstance, chance, dumb luck, or a gamble of the flow of time, nature and biology all coming together at a precise time.

Every birth is monumental.

Every birth is unprecedented.

Every birth is legendary.

Every birth is unique because there is only one of you.

Even a clone is not a precise replica of a lifeform.

The Immortality Of A Birthday

Once you die, The Universe does seem to “Remember Your Birthday” because an event of your lifetime will come to light within a few days of Your Birthday.

The Birthday Fact tends to be noticeable in the Lives Of Famous People, who have died, but, if you will pay attention to the birthday of a Loved One in your family who has died; you should notice within a week to three days before their birthday, usually, an event or situation will happen that will tend to provide information about the person’s Life.

If you want to experiment with The Birthday Immortality Experiment, go online and look up Elvis Presley’s Birthday, then, research news releases and the information that came to Life, after his Death, near or on his birthday.

Granted, in the case of celebrities, family, friends, fans and publicists can time the release of information to coincide with a birthday.

Look at the event and the information that became public knowledge.

The revelation of information, an item, or an event around the time of a birthday is not always positive. Usually family, friends, fans and publicists release positive information;

Fate, The Universe, An Intelligent Universal Entity, or the progress of Time does not seem to judge Positive or Negative – the event just reveals the information, item or event and let’s people decide the classification.

Besides The Birthday Of Elvis Presley, research the birthdays of other famous people, who have died, and notice the revelations about their Lives that came to light, near or on their birthday. Then, you may wish to research the information within your own family. (Perhaps, at long last the family will finally discover Great Aunt Tillie’s Long Lost Jewels.)

Family and friends might “forget” Your Birthday.

You should never “forget” or “blow off” Your Birthday.

Your Birthday is Your Immortal Eternal Torch That Burns Unmolested Throughout The Night Of Humanity.

Enjoy Your Birthday !

There is only one of you alive at any given point in history, the present, or the future of The Universe – You are Unique.

Your Birthday is the Immortal Point Of Origin Of Your Existence In The Real World.

Always honor, observe and celebrate Your Birthday.

Try to make sure Your Birthday will not be “prostituted” after your death.

Be selective in your choice of friends that you choose to share your birthday with.

Christmas and all the holy days converted into holidays will probably always be observed and celebrated because human nature is always looking for a reason to party.

In your lifetime, there should be events and even “public” holidays that will hold a special meaning or purpose to you.

Enjoy your Life; observe, celebrate and honor those special days.

However, keep one day sacred and special in your mind and heart – Your Birthday

Enjoy Your Birthday !

Your Birthday should always be The Most Revered And Special Day Of Your Life.

Let me be among the first, from my place in time and space, on Your Birthday to wish you:

Happy Birthday !

Sam

Reboot !

Beware The Croop !

by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

It has been more than a couple of weeks, since I have published an article or photo to my “Sam I Am Blog” on Word Press or my “Samuel Warren The Writer” blog on Blogger.

My wife, Christy and I have been ill. We caught “The Croop.”

The Croop is what my mother always called flu-like symptoms that people come down with until the global health officials like the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control get around to publicizing an official name for a global virus or disease like “Swine Flu,” “SARS,” and others.

I don’t trust doctors, medical experts and medical officials.

I’ve lived in my body long enough to know, when I feel a cold or illness coming on. I know how to “reboot” my body and get it back up to speed. I know how to “recharge” my battery and get back on line.

I know, I’m getting older and someday my life force will go “off line” for good – that is Life.

Unlike many older Americans, I don’t have a doctor on speed dial. I don’t “pop pills” like a kid in a candy store.

The pharmacists and pharmaceutical companies of the world will have to keep getting rich off of other people’s pesoes and pennies; because I don’t play their silly “pill poppin’ game.”

Live Until You Die

When I was a child, Grandma DeLong gave me the best medical advice of my life: “Everything in moderation.” I don’t remember what the original topic of discussion was about, but, I had asked grandma about some advice about life. She was one of those natural born Ozarks philosophers, who had earned her stripes the hard way – Life.

Grandma smiled and said, “You are just going to live until you die. Enjoy your life. Use your God-given common sense to help you in life. And, always remember – everything in moderation. In Life, you can always eat too much. You can always drink too much. You can always smoke too much. Anything you do in Life, you can always do “too much” of. I’ve noticed that when people go to the extreme – they get sick. So, learn that you don’t always have to “pig out” on whatever it is that you are doing.”

The American Medical Association and all of those other “official” medical experts of the world probably would not agree with my Ozarks grandmother, but, Grandma DeLong lived this life more than 80 years and gave this world four sons and a daughter that helped to make a difference, plus leaving behind a legion of DeLong grandchildren, great nieces and great nephews that continue to soldier on in life.

Now, that Christy and I have battled “The Croop,” we are back on line.

My Windows Live Writer 2011 blog editor appears to have finally given up the ghost, so I’m going to attempt to publish this post using Blog Jet.

EDITORIAL: America’s 1970s Health Craze: Death For Dinner

Editorial: America’s 1970’s Health Craze: Death For Dinner

America’s

Poison

Food ?

by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

Consider the possibility, for a moment, that Society’s efforts in the 1970s to “get America healthy” may have inadvertently poisoned our food.

Did we create stronger diseases by misunderstanding nature’s processes?

Then, America’s Health Craze of the 1970s becomes a social fad, rather than a movement. And, the issue of changes in farming practices and the preservatives added to extend the lives of fruits, vegetables and meats should make us wonder what we are really eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

America’s Health Craze in the 1970s took off like a brush fire in a high wind. But, America’s Health Craze spread like an infectious disease that could not be stopped. Time and again people were told if they got “healthy” they would live longer.

1960s’ Bad Health Habits

Rewind to the 1960s. In 1960, many adults smoked cigarettes like choo choo trains and they drank like fish. By the 1960s, it was fairly common knowledge that a chemical known as “Red Dye Number 2” was routinely added to meat to give off a color that shoppers expected their fresh meat in the butcher shop to have.

DDT Outlawed

In the 1960s, DDT had been a popular pesticide that was used to kill insect pests in farm crops. By the 1970s, the serious concerns about the after effects of DDT was getting it off the market quickly and farmers would have to rely on pharmaceutical companies to come up with a safer pesticide.

The 1970s arrived and the American Health Franchises sprang up like Texas oil wells belching crude sky high. As the Ecology Movement and the First Earth Day was gearing up in America, the idea of organic farming and gardening was catching on quickly. Americans wanted “natural” methods used to treat the crops and feed the livestock, which would end up in their supermarkets and on their dinner tables.

From The Soil To The Table

Spade and Seeds – Organic Gardening became popular in the 1970s as Americans sought for natural ways to control insect pests in their gardens without running the risk of endangering the vegetables for the supper table. Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

While people in the cities were wondering how to “safely” grow their food. Small family farms kept planting their “truck patch” gardens and kept “fattening” up a calf or feeder pig like they had done for generations. The majority of their food came straight from the soil of their gardens to the dinner table.

Corn in the garden – Home gardeners in Stone County, Missouri use their skill and knowledge of the soil, insects, local wildlife and weather conditions to grow “roasting ears” for the dinner table. Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

A farm family’s meat was usually a calf or feeder pig that had been penned up and fed to a given weight. In the fall or the winter, the calf or pig would, then, be “processed” with the pieces of meat being “sugar cured” and hung up in the smokehouse.

Red Angus calf in a pasture on Warren Land – In the 1960s, in Stone County, Missouri, rural farm families would usually select a calf to fatten up and a pig to be a feeder pig for their beef and pork for the winter. By fall or early winter, the animal would be taken to either Crane or Highlandville to the packing plant. Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

By the 1960s, in southwest Missouri, the fattened calf or feeder pig would be taken to the Crane or Highlandville packing plants. The meat would be wrapped in paper and readied for families to pick up to put in the freezer until ready for use.

Meanwhile, in American cities in the 1970s, gymnasiums sprouted up like weeds. The enthusiasts were pushing “Running” like carnival barkers at an amusement park. “Jogging” quickly became the fad of the day and by 1973, it seemed everyone in America had a gym membership, polyester headbands, wristbands, jogging suits and sneakers.

Even before critics and legislators went after cigarette smokers and breweries, the health entrepreneurs were churning out everything from powdered health drinks to the “No Pain, No Gain” T Shirts.

The American Health Craze Theory of the 1970s

The theory was America was going to get healthy. Americans would live longer. Some optimists even claimed that most major diseases would be a thing of the past.

In 2011, it seems “America’s Health Craze” was simply a “craze,” that flashed like lightning and disappeared like white shoes, white belts and platform shoes of the 1970s.

American Health Craze Significant Results ?

Americans are still dropping dead of Heart Attacks, Heart Disease and Strokes. Cancer seems even more vicious now than in 1960, or, perhaps, we have felt the need to “segregate” the different types of Cancer into specialized categories

I remember some adults in the 1960s had diabetes, but no one ever said “Type II Diabetes.”

I remember a few overweight people in the 1960s, but, in 2011, it seems “Every American alive has a weight issue from kids to adults.”

Old Timers or Alzheimer ?

In the 1960s, I remember, there were some elderly people who were said to be going senile or had a case of “Old Timers.” The name Alzheimer had not been used yet. I remember very few people who became so stricken that they would be helpless and bed-ridden until death. “Hospice” and “Home Health Care” were unknown terms in the 1960s, especially in southwest Missouri, where rural families looked after one another.

In 2011, Alzheimer seems to have become an accepted step on the road to an elderly death.

If Americans health is getting worse in 2011; what really happened in the 1970s ?

I suspect, two major changes: (1) A Significant Change In Farming Procedures and (2) Preservatives allowed more foods to be stocked on grocery store shelves

In the 1970s, the first heart transplant was performed. It would seem the American Medical Community was on the right track. Where did the American Health Craze Train slam into the mountain?

Why The Change In Farming Procedures ?

The healthy ideas to improve America’s Food Supply may have poisoned it. A farming idea to improve poultry and livestock in the 1970s may have backfired.

Livestock Logic

Livestock gets their nutrients from the soil. Cows eat grass and the nutrients get absorbed into their bodies. Hogs root their noses in the dirt and you can watch them smacking away at insects in the soil. Chickens scratch at the soil and peck their beaks in the dirt. But, the concept of “Confinement Farming of the 1970s” was aimed at changing the traditional approach.

Poultry Penitentiaries

The poultry change seemed to happen quickly. Chickens and turkeys were no longer free to roam around outside and peck and scratch in the dirt. Suddenly, they were confined into long poultry houses that became Maximum Security Prisons For Poultry. Rows of cages in a controlled environment of heating and cooling. They either laid eggs or remained in their cages until plump enough to be shipped off for “processing.”

Since chickens and turkeys were no longer free to scratch in the soil and absorb minerals into their bodies that would mean that those minerals would have to be artificially induced, either through feed or vaccinations. Nature quit feeding the chickens and the turkeys, who were being raised in controlled “cradle to the grave” environments with no access to nature.

Confinement Farming

My 1970s Ag Ring. Hand model- Samuel E. Warren Jr. Photo by Christy Warren.

I was in the Future Farmers of America and the vocational agriculture courses in the early 1970s. I remember in 1972 information was everywhere about “Confinement Farming,” especially beef cattle. farmers were being encouraged to “confine” their cattle into new styles of barns to restrict and eventually eliminate the livestock’s movement into the outdoors.

On the surface, the idea seemed logical. Data was being distributed that a single cow could eat X amount of pasture that translated into significant amounts of money in terms of acres of pasture needed to feed a cow.

Plus, in the fall and winter, when pasture dies, farmers had to have the money to supply bales of hay to feed their cattle through the winter. A dry spring or summer in southwest Missouri meant local farmers would try to contact farmers in Arkansas or Texas for hay, which then added the cost of transportation to the cost of the hay.

Thus, Confinement Farming would be cheaper and reap more profits faster if cattle were taken out of the field and imprisoned in these barns. It was a hard sell issue. I remember, farm magazine after farm magazine seemed to applaud the ideology because it was aimed at cutting expenses and increasing profits. The obvious size difference of cattle in comparison to chickens was one of the drawbacks to trying to confine cattle into barns from the cradle to the grave production cycle.

In southwest Missouri, in Stone County, cattle are still allowed to graze in pastures. There are no large cattle beef farms or factory farms in southwest Missouri.  In 2011, the majority of Stone County farmers are part-time farmers, who have to have a “day job” to make a living and supply money for farming.

I’ve heard local farmers complain that it seems the state and federal governments are constantly coming up with new laws to force farmers to increase record keeping and vaccinations of beef cattle. The Mad Cow Scare of the 1990s is the supposed justification for the mandated government changes, but the rise in cattle vaccinations began in the 1970s in Stone County, Missouri.

My mother, a hog farmer, who had a herd of 25 Hampshire, Yorkshire and Duroc hogs in the 1960s and 1970s had begun to complain in the late 1970s that there were fewer “feeder pig” buyers coming to farms to buy the pigs

And, the rumors of hog farmers being forced by the government to adopt the practices of “confinement farming” for hogs was a persistent rumor and concern in the late 1970s.  By the early 1980s, my mother  had sold off the swine and “gotten out of the hog business.”

Beefing Up The Beef”

As a kid, a Black Angus bull normally weighed in about 400 to 500 pounds. In 2011, they seem to look more like 800 pounds. That might not be a problem if the cattle are naturally evolving into bigger beef physiques, but if government regulations are forcing the “beefing up” of bulls, then, essentially you may have the “bodybuilder using steroids issue” being forced on cattle through official channels.

The increased weight could also cause a problem for farmers. If the bigger bulls are being used to service the cows then there is the possibility that the cows will be unable to breed.

Like a woman, it takes a cow nine months to deliver. If a farmer has a cow that does not give birth to a calf or the calf dies then that is a year’s time plus a year’s food and water is wasted. In a herd of 25 or more cattle, you multiply the sterile or still births and the outcome is a farmer is facing the real possibility of bankruptcy.

The irony is that Black Angus was always a favored breed among local farmers because the calves were born small and naturally and quickly grew to a respectable size for beef to be taken to the market in a short period of time in comparison to other breeds of cattle.

Pork Prisons

Once the move to imprison turkeys and chickens had caught on and the idea to confine cattle seemed to be catching on , then, the experts focused on hogs. Again, the solution was essentially the same as with cattle. Confine the hogs to a building to reduce the amount of pasture needed and increase profits quickly by fattening up the hogs and getting them processed quicker.

While a cow chews the grass in a pasture, a hog roots their snout deep into the dirt and enthusiastically consumes the minerals in their mouths. Experts may not have realized the importance of the minerals being naturally consumed. Hogs will also find a shade in a hollow and lie on beds of dead leaves or root up the dirt to create a hog wallow, where they can roll in the dirt to refresh themselves.

After a rain, they will wallow in these ruts and cover themselves with mud to stay cool, during a hot day. Since hogs root under fences in search of earthworms, grub worms and plant roots, farmers would put a ring in their noses to keep the swine in their own pastures. Hogs always seemed committed to making a major environmental impact on nature.

Experts’ theory was that hogs could be kept in buildings with concrete floors that would be easy to clean. No longer able to root around over acres of land, the cradle to grave production cycle of hogs would result in savings to farmers who wouldn’t need acres of land to raise herds of hogs.

However, the inability of hogs to root in the ground and wallow in the pasture to interact with nature would mean that the swine would have to receive the minerals artificially in the feed or through shots.

Another benefit of the hog confinement operation over the traditional hog farm was: The Smell. Growing up on a hog farm you learn quickly that hog manure has a distinctive strong odor and if the wind shifts toward your nose, then, you have no doubt you are on a hog farm. Confinement farming of hogs solved the problem of neighbors’ sensitive noses and local planning and zoning regulations.

Vegan Victims ?

Vegans and vegetarians are not immune to the changes in farming. Without livestock in the pasture to continue Nature’s chain of recycling; there has to be a way to replenish the soil. In southwest Missouri in the 1960s, farmers basically relied on the Holy Bible instructions of farming a piece of land for six years and letting it lie “fallow” – unused for the seventh year.

Burning Brush

While the land laid unploughed and unplanted for a year, brush was cut off of the land. Farmers would then choose a calm evening in the fall and stand watch as they burned the brush piles. Burning the brush piles, destroyed winter habitats for snakes, chiggers and ticks, while the burned woods would contribute minerals back into the soil to promote pasture growth in the coming year.

In 2011, in Stone County, Missouri, local farmers haven’t burned any of their brush piles for years. Natural decay of dead leaves and rotting wood takes years to return the minerals to the soil. Spring and Summer of 2011, I have noticed several snakes on the land and the number of ticks seem overwhelming just by walking through the yard.

Without brush being burned to put minerals back into the soil, some local farmers have to resort to buying chemical fertilizers to spread on their pastures to promote the growth of grasses. Thus, minerals have to be artificially replaced into the soil for livestock to consume.

Usually cattle, hogs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, and goats would digest the nutrients in their bodies and return the digested waste in the form of manure to the pasture, thus, Nature’s fertilizer would break down and naturally feed the plants and grasses.

Once poultry and livestock were taken out of pastures and confined on concrete floor rather than the earth, then, of course, alternative fertilizers had to be added to the soil. Plus, without getting the minerals naturally from nature meant that the poultry and livestock would have to receive the nutrients through either feed or shots.

Vaccinations for Disease not Vitamins

In the 1960s, farmers usually vaccinated their livestock to prevent or quickly stop the spread of a possible disease. In 2011, I’ve noticed that farmers seem to be required to give their cattle a series of seemingly never ending vaccinations.

Danger of Preservatives ?

The real issue of the distances of geography in the United States means that businesses have to have a solution to keep food “fresh” from the pastures to the market. While the government seemed to support the “confinement farming” concept, there would also have to be a way to try and preserve “freshness” in the foods until they reach their destinations.

In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration is the agency that is charged with trying to figure out what works and doesn’t work when it comes to food and drugs. The fanatic push of health enthusiasts of the 1970s had to have FDA officials and Department of Agriculture inspectors under the gun to get healthy produce on the shelves quickly.

In the 1970s it seemed almost every week there was a new powdered health drink going on the shelves that suggested it could turn 98-pound weaklings into buff bodybuilders and do it healthy. Perhaps, rigorous testing was done, but, the persistent push for healthy foods quickly expanded the ingredients labels on boxes to include a plethora of words that read more like the periodic table of elements rather than natural ingredients.

Personal Conclusion

The claims of the American Health Craze of the 1970s were that by living healthy and eating healthy fruits, meat and vegetables, Americans would live longer and not have the debilitating diseases and health problems of their parents and grandparents.

Yet, in 2011, I notice that virtually every American wrestles with weight issues in their lives. Middle age and senior Americans visit their doctors to be put on diets to control their blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, calories, weight and the amount of salt in their diets. I don’t remember hearing adults in the 1960s routinely going to their doctors for diets.

Vegetables Grow In The Garden – In the 1960s, Stone County farm families usually picked their vegetables straight out of the garden and took them into the kitchen to wash, clean and cook for the evening’s dinner table. Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

Personally, my parents and grandmother seemed healthier physically than middle age, senior and, even the younger people that I see on the sidewalk.

Vegetable Row In The Garden – In 2011, Americans and Missourians, who live in major metropolitan cities like Kansas City, St. Louis, Jefferson City, Springfield, Republic,Nixa and Branson may have to rely on supermarkets for fresh fruits, meats and vegetables. In rural communities like Galena, Abesville, Crane and Reeds Spring, southwest Missouri residents can “go to the garden” and pick their produce. Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

There is even news stories in 2011 of how medical officials are suggesting to legislators to pass laws to remove children from their parents because the kids are “obese.” The irony is the issue may be that Society is responsible for the childrens’ weight gain overall and not necessarily the parents.

In the 1900s, arsenic was used to kill pests on tomato plants. A buildup of arsenic in the body leads to death, thus, people quit using arsenic to kill off tomato plant pests.

Buying bottled water, counting calories, watching the cholesterol number, jogging and working out on a regular basis to live longer may not mean much if we are all eating poisoned food on a regular basis that have added preservatives and artificially substituted synthetic minerals rather than natural minerals from the earth.

The irony of America’s Health Craze of the 1970s is in our enthusiasm to get healthy and live longer, we may have created new health problems, increased old ones and essentially “poisoned our own food supply” by trying to take short cuts to produce healthier meat, fruits and vegetables while trying to make more money quicker for businesses within the overall food processing system.

Bon Appetite !

Sam

American Health Care Bullet – Your Name On It

A National Day

Of Civil Disobedience

for Health Care

Plan and Campaign

by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

The American Health Care Bullet has your name on it. An unexpected medical crisis or an accident and the bullet fires and destroys your lifetime of work, savings and accomplishments.   Copyright Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

There is a loaded gun at your head – American Health Care.

The finger on the trigger is the United States Government.

James Richard Verone dodged the bullet – He robbed a bank to go to prison to receive Health Care,

The loaded pistol of American Health Care remains at your head.

You In The Orange Jumpsuit.

Look in the mirror. You could be the next James Richard Verone.

Sooner or later, everyone gets ill. Sooner or later, everyone needs medical care. Without National Health Care, the finger on the trigger squeezes and in an instant your life is reduced to poverty. Everything you have ever worked for is now owned by a doctor, a hospital, an HMO, an insurance company or numerous creditors, who wait for the belching bureaucratic buzzards of the American Legal System to claw apart your financial carcass.

Look in the mirror – Your grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, sister, brother, your son, your daughter, or you . . . You could be the next James Richard Verone.

You might only be a single heartbeat away from wearing an orange jump suit.

The Bomb Vest Of Uncertainty

For decades, Americans have screamed at The Deaf, Dumb And Blind Fools Of The Congress Of The United States Of America. For decades, Presidential Wannabes have “Promised” A Plan For National Health Care. Americans cannot continue to work with The Bomb Vest Of Uncertainty strapped to their chests as they go about trying to earn a living. A simple accident or incident triggers uncertainty and a diagnosis of cancer, hospitalization from a car wreck and suddenly a life ends up weighed against medical bills.

Gas prices rise. Food prices rise. The U.S. Economy is a myth of vanishing smoke. And there is no net to even protect citizen’s health, which allows them to receive health care to keep working.

You have a job today; you might not have a job tomorrow. No job and your Health Care goes away.

The United States Government does not flinch when the pistol fires. The American Health Care Bullet bores through the gray matter of your brain. The weapon’s recoil simply signals that another American is Dead from lack of affordable health care. Family and friends will grieve over your obituary and try hard to ignore that lack of health care is being written into their obituary.

James Richard Verone still wears his orange jump suit and sits ignored in the American Legal System. We have all read the story and moved on with our lives.

But, the American Gun Of Health Care remains wedged against our temples. The finger flexes on the trigger and beads of sweat emerge on our foreheads.

Someday, pershaps, someday soon – you will need expensive, excessive health care. The American Health Care Bullet in the chamber has your name on it.

The uncertainty of Life always manages to spring unforeseen medical issues upon people.  An automobile accident, an

unexpected heart attack, a sudden stroke or a diagnosis of cancer can be the pressure that squeezes the trigger and starts the explosive chain of events that can destroy a person’s lifetime of achievements and personal savings.

Will the hot metal shoot down the barrel, break through your skull and send gunpowder and metal fragments exploding into your brain because you don’t have Health Care coverage ?

Civil Disobedience

Throughout history there has only been one nonviolent way to force a government to listen to citizens – Civil Disobedience.

Civil Disobedience helped to end America’s involvement in the Vietnam War. The problem was the sits ins and protests were sporadic and uncontrolled like lightning sparked brush fires and it took years before the United States Government finally had to listen to citizens.

National Day Of Civil Disobedience For Health Care

A National Day Of Civil Disobedience For Health Care will get political leaders attention. If people come together to agree upon a Day Not To Show Up For Work, then, Government will grind to a halt for a day.

For A National Day Of Civil Disobedience to be successful all participating Americans have to agree to basic ground rules.

No Violence

The Essential Requirement For Success is No Violence. The success of the student sit-ins of the 1960s were they did not destroy lives and personal property. Violence only mobilizes the American Legal System to pull out all the stops to maintain Public Order, which allows the Government the ability to use any and all means at it’s disposal to put down any suspected hint of an uprising.

Take The Day Off

A National Day Of Civil Disobedience where Americans agree not to show up for work is the one technique that Uncle Sam can not defend against. If people don’t show up for work, then, No Business gets done. It breaks no law for a business to simply “Take The Day Off.”

Common Sense Rules

The Uniformed Code Of Military Justice requires military personnel to perform their official duties, so they cannot legally participate in such a day, nor, should anyone in military uniform risk the threat of court martial.

Americans, who work in law enforcement and in life saving jobs, should not jeopardize their lives of themselves or fellow citizens by participation. Thus, guards at Federal and State prisons and local jails should not walk off the job or fail to show up for work. Naturally, paramedics, nurses and doctors should not just walk out of hospitals.

But, there are jobs in America, where Americans can simply stay home from work for a day.

The financial fallout should be sufficient enough to sober up Congress.

Red, White And Blue Flu

A National Day when Wall Street feels the national surgical strike of No Business, No Revenue For A Day.

Americans across the nation, simply come together with family and friends and agree to a day when they will “Take The Day Off.” Then, they pick up the telephone or cell phone and call their bosses to “Stay Home From Work With A Massive Case Of Red, White And Blue Flu.”

Small business might support the national sick day because they can’t afford to provide employees with health care and Congress has ignored small businesses as well as Americans on this issue.

Wake Up The White House, Sober Up Congress!

A single day would wake up the White House and Sober Up Congress – but, it will take more than one day for the White House, Congress and The Supreme Court Of The United States Of America to realize ALL Americans are united in a demand for an immediate and effective policy of national health care.

By 1973, the Italian Government had already had about 42 new governments since the end of World War II, based on my research. Italians felt their government wasn’t working and they walked away for a few days until a new government could be organized. The simple National Stirke – No Confidence Vote technique meant that leaders had to come up with a way to solve the immediate issue.

Congress Can Find The Money For National Health Care

America can afford National Health Care.

Congress found the money for the Space Race.

Congress found the money for the Arms Race during the Cold War.

Congress can find the money for National Health Care. They just have never wanted to. HMOs, insurance companies have lobbied Congress to go fishing and forget about health care.

Congress found the money to fight the War In Afghanistan.

Congress found the money to fight the War In Iraq.

Congress can look at the budget and divert funds from some programs into National Health Care until they pass legislation to set aside funds beginning in the next fiscal year.

Inalienable Right

A Non-Violent – National Day Of Civil Disobedience will fire the starting gun to make the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court realize that “Life, Liberty and The Pursuit Of Happiness” involves – a person’s health to be able to live that “inalienable right.”

We can all forget James Richard Verone and move on with our lives. When a major Health Care Crisis hits our life, we might remember that guy back in 2011 who robbed a bank to get health care. Then, we will wonder why we didn’t do something to try and convince American politicians to make National Health Care a matter of national law and policy.

National Health Care is not a political issue; it is a neglected, inalienable right of human dignity and citizenship.

Without health a citizen cannot work for a personal livelihood, nor, can he or she contribute to the local, state and national treasuries to ensure the social and political stability of public order at all levels.

National Volunteer Denial Of Service Campaign

While A National Day Of Civil Disobeidence would be the opening salvo in the battle for American Health Care there would probably have to be a strategic nonviolent escalation for the White and Congress to realize that Americans believe Health Care is a Freedom forgotten by the Founding Fathers.

The Second and Final Phase of National Disobedience would require the volunteer efforts of Americans and businesses in a National Denial Of Service Campaign. American businesses have always had the right to refuse service.

The Second Phase of the National Civil Disobedience Movement For Health Care simply requires businesses to deny personal and professional services to the president, the first family, the cabinent, members of their families, members of the Administration and their families, members of Congress and their families for a period of at least 30 days.

Basically, for at least 30 days, Washington D.C., policymakers and their families should be denied services for groceries, gasoline and access to medical care unless they are willing to pay excessive prices. The action would be a symbolic real world gesture to remind policymakers what it is like for an average American to be “denied basic services because of an inability to earn money to purchase products and services.”

Naturally, Washington D.C., policymakers would be ready to flock to Bethesda or Walter Reed for medical services, but the simple nuisance of lawmakers having to temporarily rearrange their schedules should be enough to remind them of the seriousness of not being able to expect an immediate response.

As for groceries and gasoline, American businesses should stand ready to treat national, state and local policymakers with the same lack of concern that average Americans face daily. Since there are no Price Controls for average Americans, then, there should not be any for policymakers. Wouldn’t it do your heart good to know a United States Senator from Missouri had to pay $10 for a carton of eggs?

Would you feel bad if a former president had to pay $20 a gallon for a tank of gas ?

The Denial Of Service Campaign to policymakers is to remind them what it is like to “Walk A Mile In An Average American’s Shoes” for a few days. The campaign should also remind them they were elected to do a job and accept the responsibility to find solutions.

The American Health Care Bullet with your name on it is in the gun . . .

Do We The People unload the gun or do we continue to allow the United States Government to repeatedly keep squeezing the trigger?
