CHRISTY DOES THE LAUNDRY_2457_resized

“All I Want For Christmas Is . . .A Washing Machine.” Christy Warren washes clothes in Barangay Baras, Leyte, Republic of the Philippines.  It is a common sight to see Filipinas in the province washing their families’ clothes almost everyday.  In rural and remote areas, water lines and the infrastructure to supply water is not always readily available, even, when you live on an island in the middle of the ocean.  Christy had a Whirlpool washer and a Kenmore dryer in our home in the United States.  But, she made a decision.  In my lifetime, I have witnessed three women, who know the word, “family,” to be more than just a series of letters in the dictionary.  Opal M. DeLong Warren, my mother, Donna DeLong, my cousin, and Christy Warren, my wife.  In my lifetime, I have heard many people “talk” about “family,” but, these three women always moved “Heaven and Earth” for “family” and I witnessed it time and again.  When we retired, Christy had a dream that some day we would move back to the Philippines to be close to her “family”; it took a few years, but, it is difficult to deny the dream of a “Leo Lady.”  Nikon D 100 Photo by Samuel E. how to make money online

    September 10, 2012 at 1:25 AM

    • The photo is the real deal. It was not posed, staged or special effects added. Christy washed the clothes outside. Many Filipinas in rural Leyte wash their kids clothes outside because there is no real water line infrastructure that can deliver millions of gallons of water through pipelines in countries like the US and Canada. Sometimes the actual “Washing Machines”that you can buy in Manila are like the old Maytag wringer washers in the States that hold water and soap and have a hose to allow you to drain water. Christy had her traditional electric washer and dryer in the States, so in the P.I., it is one of those routine tasks that really makes you appreciate a simple device like a working washing machine in the US.

      Thank you for the compliment.

  5. I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours “All I Want For Christmas Is . . .A Washing Machine.” Nikon D 100 Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr. Sam I Am Blog. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.

  7. Remember “The War on Terror” and the term “Colateral Damage”.
Let me refresh your memory, when you drop bombs on someone, say Al Quida or the Taliban, sometimes you skip and get women and children. To make it a bit more palatable on the community at home, you call it “Colateral Damage”, didn’t mean to have those innocent bystanders, but they were in the wrong place.
MKs are “Colateral Damage”. The generals sent the NTM troops into foreign lands to drop religon on the masses. But the MKs ended up in boarding faculty in addition to a few on the Sergeants were a bit heavy using the discipline in addition to a bit free with their hands and other bits of anatomy. The war may happen to be planning well, but evaluate the “Colateral Damage”.
Time for OPERATION CLEANUP in addition to a few court marshalls.

    • Ellsa Husson,

War is a Universal Entity. It really has a life of it’s own. Until Human Nature changes there is no possibility that War will ever disappear from planet Earth.

“War on Terror” is a stupid political term. Terror is Fear and Fear is a part of Human Nature. A term like “War On Terror” belongs in the Political Dictionary of Stupid Remarks with “The War On Drugs.” There is no War On Drugs because drugs are TOO important to the world. Governments of the World simply don’t know how to “collect taxes” on the illegal drugs of the world, so they came up with the fairy tale “War On Drugs.”

Human nature likes to be able to take a pill to feel better or change something — so, why would any government want to declare a “War On Drugs.”

Real “War” accomplishes great changes just like Catastrophic Weather and Natural Disasters — World Maps are redrawn and segments of global real estate are refreshed. Governments promote Planned Parenthood, Freedom Of Choice and sex education to try and control the overall population. Nature resorts to disasters and disease. Nature doesn’t worry about polls and voters. People do not want to think of War as a “Cleanser,” but, it is. Look at your history books — World War I and World War II was Nature’s Global Ethnic Cleansing — before those Wars nature had to rely on disease like “Black Death,” Smallpox, tuberculosis and others.

The earth is a living organism and from time to time our tiny spaceship “Refreshes.”

Usually, though War is considered the result of Human Nature and not Mother Nature.

Colateral Damage is a stupid term. What do you expect — it came out of the 1970s? There were a lot of politicians in the 1970s, but, few real leaders in the United States or anywhere else on the planet.

In War, there is always Death. War is an aggressive action taken to reach a national objection — anything that gets in the way — dies.

War is War. Dead is Dead. Colateral Damage is just a phrase that spineless jellyfish politicians use to try and forget that they agreed to drop a bomb or send a rocket or missile in to KILL an enemy of their country.

You use the lettes MKs, but, did not elaborate what those letters are suppose to mean.

Generals and Admirals only send the troops — once the Generals and Admirals boss — gives the order to send the troops.

The US does not drop “religion” on the masses because there is no “State Religion” (and second most countries already get their tennis shoes, tank tops and sports equipment from the Global Jock Manufactures that support sports).

There may have been sergeants, officers and enlisted people who stepped over the line and the American Military Justice System court-martials these people.

At the end of World War II, Nuremberg rendered judgement on German military officers, NCOs and enlisted people that seemed to enjoy pain, torture and executing “the enemy” too much. Japan got off easy. They had a few sadistic military officials executed — but, Emperor Hirohito was never charged, incarcerated or made to stand trail. Hirohito “Beat The International Justice System.”

If you want to accuse people in uniform, then, that is your right. But, before you start pointing the finger at the privates, sergeants, generals and admirals of the world’s military — remember — most places on the globe — military people take “orders” from so-called “Civilian Leaders.”

When American troops boarded the planes to go to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban they did not do it because an American General or an American Admiral made the decision. A so-called “Political, Civilian Leader” on his rump in The White House made the decision and gave the order.

Saddam Hussein had been in power in Iraq since 1973. Again, it was a so-called “Political, Civilian Leader” on his rump in The White House that “ordered” American G.I.s to die for “Iraqi Freedom” (– or Arab Oil).

In Vietnam, General William Westmoreland had definite ideas about the way the Vietnam War needed to be fought. However, his civilian boss in The White House, another so-called “Political, Civilian Leader” who made the decisions and gave the orders from Washington.

The Domino Theory of the Vietnam War was created by the politicians — not the military. The fairy tale Weapons Of Mass Destruction of Iraq was created by an Administration — not the military. The decision to have American G.I.s slaughtered to support that fairy tale was again made by another so-called Political, Civilian Leader.

In your zeal to convene court-martials don’t forget to call for “War Criminal” prosecutions for so-called Political and Civilian Leaders, who shrug off “Colateral Damage”projections like dandruff flakes on a business suit.

Step back for a moment and look: The Men and Women In Uniform are “The Good Guys.”

OPERATION CLEANUP is a wonderful passion, but, before you head to the Pentagon, be sure you have the World Court and the Justice Department make a stop at The White House and the US Capitol to “arrest” Congressmen and Senators, who signed off on the insanity. You might want them to stop at the US Supreme Court to and serve warrants, if necessary, for “lapdog” justices that ignored the US Constitution, in favor of a so-called Political, Civilian Leader or his Administration.
