July 20, 1990, Christy Saldana married United States Air Force Staff Sergeant Samuel E. Warren Jr., at Clark Air Base, Republic of the Philippines. Permanent Change of Station Orders for the Warrens came through and with Mount Pinatubo sending aftershocks through Clark, the Warrens left for the next Air Force assignment.

Leyte Landing Plaque -Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr. October 20, 1944- Before General Douglas MacArthur, Philippines President Sergio Osmena and the other members of the official party waded ashore four hours of heavy naval gunfire strafed and bombarded targets, while 6th Army troops hit the designated beaches,  Meanwhile, X Corps troops landed on the four-mile stretch of beach between the Tacloban City airfield and the Palo River,  XXIV Corps troops, 15 miles to the south, came ashore on the 3-mile beach between San Jose and the Daquitan River.  By 1:30 p.m., Red Beach Sector was secure.  General MacArthur, President Osmena and the official party waded ashore.

Mount Pinatubo erupted. Christy’s teenage brother, Ramon, and her teenage sister, Marife, had been living in Angeles City, near Clark. In the days following the eruption of Mount Pinatubo, Christy was unable to find out any information about her brother and sisters in the Philippines, She feared the worst. But, she never gave up hope.

Taking Command – United States Army General Douglas MacArthur and the official party wades ashore at Palo,Tacloban City, Leyte, Republic of the Philippines October 20, 1944 to signal the Allies active Liberation Of The Philippines from the enemy and hasten the end of World War II.  These statues commemorate the determination and heroism to allow Filipino citizens to rebuild their government and lives.  Three days after General MacArthur and the official party waded ashore, the Allies engaged the Axis Powers in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, whish is considered to be the largest naval battle of World War II and some criteria suggests the Battle of Leyte Gulf to be “the largest naval battle in world history.” Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr.

For 18 years, Christy pursued every lead, clue or idea to try and find her family back in the Philippines. By 2008, computers, the Internet and the technology of Local Government Units in the Philippines came together. She signed an electronic guest book for Tanauan and the administrator Eugene Ramos replied by email that he thought he knew her brother, Ramon.

Quickly, communications with her family back in the Philippines was restored and soon the idea of a trip evolved into the idea of a move: a “return to the Philippines.”

The Warren sold the family farm in Stone County, Missouri and began working the paperwork through the Philippine Consul General in Chicago. December 17, 2011, Christy, Sam and pets, Sarge, Smiley and Sunshine boarded the American Airlines flight out of Springfield, Missouri.

Freedom Fighters Legacy – Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr. Only the capital city of Warsaw, Poland suffered more destruction than Manila in the Philippines in World War II.  Manila and Stalingrad, Russia are considered the sites of the fiercest urban warfare of World War II.
These statues of General Douglas MacArthur and the official party are a constant reminder that the freedom to live your life and the liberty to make the choices on how to live your life is a God-given birthright that no human, government or nation can take away.  The statues welcome visitors, who may not be aware of their birthright, but should always find the courage and inspiration in life to rise up and enjoy each day of their life.  The Freedom Fighters’ Legacy is each person should have the right to freedom and liberty to live their life and that legacy should be inherited by each generation.

A Memorial For A Filipino Promise Plaque – Photo by Samuel E. Warren Jr. President of the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt ordered General Douglas MacArthur to leave the Philippines during the invasion by Japan. In Australia, on the radio, General MacArthur promised Filipino citizens that he would return. Meanwhile, freedom fighters opposed to the occupation began aggressive guerilla tactics designed to drive out the invaders.Subversive groups organized on Luzon, the Visayas and in Mindanao. The United States military used submarines to smuggle food, guns, ammo, explosives and radios to the freedom fighters resistance movement to defeat the invaders. By the end of World War II, there were 277 guerilla units in the Philippines composed of some 260, 715 people. The heroic acts of the freedom fighting guerillas provided information to the Allies and effective acts of sabotage that paved the way for General MacArthur to keep his promise and allow the Allies to achieve the Liberation of the Philippines.

December 19, 2011 – Philippines Air Lines Flight 107 landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila and after 21 years in the United States Christy could finally hug her brothers and sisters.

United States Army General Douglas MacArthur, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, promised Filipino citizens, during World War II: “I Shall Return.” The general kept his word and the Allies brought an end to World War II in the Pacific.

Like General MacArthur, Christy Saldana Warren always intended to return to her native country and her family. She never gave up her faith or hope.

January 1, 2012, she stood on the beach at the MacArthur Landing and faced the statues that are symbolic of the men who “returned” and waded ashore in the Philippines, October 20. 1944.

Facing the General MacArthur statue, Christy smiled and saluted. Christy words rang out on the morning breeze: “I Have Returned !”

Thank You ,General MacArthur for the lessons in courage and determination.

Thank You, God, for the faith to never lose hope to turn the dream into the reality” – Christy

Fate had General MacArthur’s landing craft run ground off the shore of Leyte.  The determined general ordered the ramp lowered and he stepped into the waves of Pedro Bay.  A United States Army Signal Corps photographer clicked the shutter that captured the famous moment in history that would one day become large statues that would commemorate the steps in The Liberation of the Philippines from the enemy and the horrors of World War II.  Photo by Samuel E. Once More For The Photographer – Photo by Samuel E. 1. According to the blog THE_HILL, he is now denouncing McCain before his Arizona Primary for returning to his longtime Senate seat — what do you know of the Conservative Figure and his latest direction? 10 points for best analysis – interpretation

Joe the Plumber goes off on McCain, says he ‘screwed up my life’
By Eric Zimmermann – 02/14/10 11:12 AM ET
Joe the Plumber is no longer a fan of either Sarah Palin or John McCain, it seems.

Joe, also known as Sam Wurzelbacher, told an audience in Pennsylvania this week that McCain “is no public servant.”

“McCain was trying to use me,” Wurzelbacher said, according to public radio correspondent Scott Detrow. “I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy.”

“I don’t owe him s—,” Wurzelbacher continued. “He really screwed my life up, is how I look at it.”

In fact, Wurzelbacher’s dislike for McCain is so strong that he no longer supports Sarah Palin simply because Palin will campaign for McCain’s re-election.

As for Obama: “I think his ideology is un-American, but he’s one of the more honest politicians. At least he told us what he wanted to do.”

    • Here is what I know about Conservative views in America.

I grew up in Stone County, Missouri one of the most hardcore Conservative Republican counties in the entire United States.

During the last term of the Bush Administration, the young Stone County Republicans from 18 to 40 were still saying that their so-called president was just being bad mouthed by the “Big Bad Democrats.” The old Republicans of Stone County from 41 through their 80s were keeping their mouths shut and not saying anything. The fact that the old Republicans weren’t talking meant even they weren’t willing to try and justify their president’s actions.

Even in college I gave the Republicans the benefit of the doubt. The ignorance of my youth – I thought Richard Milhous “Tricky Dick” Nixon was a great president and the Big Bad Democrats were just bad mouthing him. Today, in my opinion, I believe, Tricky Dick, is as we say in the Ozarks, “as crooked as a dog’s hind leg.”

When I went on active duty in the military, I had heard about those “Pro Military Republicans.” But, while I was on active duty – it was those supposedly “Pro-Military Republican” presidents who ALWAYS threatened to veto any increase in military salary. The Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) in the early 90s that targeted bases for closure targeted those bases before President Clinton – the Democrat came to office. I was on active duty. I read the messages that said Uncle Sam was going to save money by closing bases. That procedure was up and running before President Clinton won his first primary. The actions to close the bases didn’t begin happening though until President Clinton moved into the White House.

There my friend is your Conservative Pro Military Republicans.

Now let’s talk recent American political history. I was on active duty when Newt Gingrich was doing his original 15 minutes of fame. He ran his mouth and grabbed headlines. I don’t remember him ever fighting for any funding for the U.S. military. He ran his mouth. Gingrich is still running his mouth.

Senator John McCain wore the uniform. He became an American Prisoner Of War, during the Vietnam War. He served his country. Then, he went to Congress to continue to serve his country. Like Senator Barry Goldwater, a Republican, Senator McCain has fought the good fight and done his best.

I have no doubt that during the nasty politics of a presidential campaign that Senator McCain’s staff – HIS PEOPLE- USED JOE THE PLUMBER because the man was ready for his 15 minutes of fame and he didn’t think about the possible after effects of what could happen if McCain didn’t win the White House. He let himself be used. He went for the good old country boy routine and he didn’t consider the “worst case scenario” in case McCain didn’t win.

In the grander scheme, “the average Joe’s story” is a reminder that the “Grand Old Party – G.O.P. – eats their young.”

Conservative is a political term that suggests people want to build their castles in the past and move in. The Arab Muslim hardliners want it to be the 12th Century as long as they can still keep driving their limos and using their cellphones and computers. They can’t accept that life and civilization moves on. Women like to drive their own cars, vote, own property in their own names, and Allah Forbid, even wear hot pants and cut- off shorts. Just because a bunch of cranky old clerics have never had a haircut and are too cheap to buy a razor for a clean shave, they work hard to keep the rest of their civilization living in the past.

American Conservatives want to pretend we just stepped off the Mayflower. I’ve always thought that tall hat looked stupid. Face it: Big Gold Buckles On Your Shoes screams transvestite. Knee britches didn’t have zippers. I like a zipper in my pants.

You, my friend, maybe a Conservative, but I don’t imagine that you are ready to move to the New England states and start farming 40 acres with a horse or a mule. Good luck finding an American wife wanting to wear a sunbonnet, long dresses, and ready to help you out in the field with only church sermons on Sunday to look forward to.

President Obama disappointed me. I thought he would be a 21st Century FDR. I imagined he would come to Washington DC, take names, bust heads and get the country back on track. I thought he had FDR’s courage. He came to Washington DC singing “Onward Christian Soldier,” let’s all hold hands and work together. He didn’t realize that “The Spoiled Brats of Congress” and “The Chairwarmers of the US Supreme Court” needed true adult supervision to get them working.

I believe Secretary of State Hilary Clinton can bring the United States back from the abyss of extinction as president. But, the Democratic Party is not smart enough to hand President Obama his pink slip.

Thee current roster of Republican challengers aren’t national leaders with a plan – they are just the loyal party clowns standing in the hallway waiting to perform on the national stage.

Gingrich is yesterday’s news. . .and you wrap fish in yesterday’s newspaper – At least in the Ozarks, Big Mouth Trout were wrapped in newspaper and in the Philippines – Milk Fish is wrapped in newspaper.

McCain is the only Republican that has the nobility, credibility, patriotism and class to be the Republican nominee. The GOP won’t put up McClain because he isn’t a patsy or finger puppet. To maintain the economic control of the United States the Conservative Republicans have to have a half-wit who is willing to sit up, bark, roll over and fetch when their money moguls direct. So, whoever the Greedy Old Politicians put up against Obama will not matter because they will be bought and paid for. The Arab Conservative Muslim World has al Qaeda. The American Conservative World has the Republicans – and the Republicans can always afford top notch tailors and publicists to preserve their loyal Conservative views and retain control.

Me, I’m keeping my cellphone and the zipper in my pants.
